Problem description

The iPhone is unable to get network service but IMEI is present when dialing *#06#.

Symptoms

  • The iPhone is unable to get network service but IMEI is present when dialing *#06#.
  • The Phone is always searching for network.

Diagnostic Steps

Start by opening the Phone app and dialing *#06#, and you see a window pop up with the IMEI.

Example Modem firmware

Go to the Settings app, General > About, scroll down, and check if Modem Firmware is present.

When this information is present, it already tells us that the Baseband CPU and Power Management Unit (PMU) are working.

The next step is to split the motherboard.

Having ripped pads doesn't mean the problem is caused by them. If you find a ripped pad, you must check on a BoardView diagram what that trace or line does and if there are any other alternate points.
