Replaced U4801 with a donor chip from board 820-3476 (MacBook A1502).
Open the device and check if the screw on the battery connector is present and screwed in properly, if this screw is missing it will cause the issues above.


🟡 Result: Keyboard worked, but Caps Lock LED was reversed (lit when lowercase, off when uppercase).
Remove the motherboard out of the housing and inspect the Battery FPC for any physical damage it is common to have this connector damaged if the iPad was open before and something was inserted here to disconnect the battery.

If the screw is missing you need to install a new one, make sure the one you get is not to long or the connector wont be pushed properly into the battery, dont over tight the screw or it can damage the FPC, sometimes if the screw is over tight it can also bend the FPC the side pins will lift causing issues.

If the connector is damaged the solution is to replace it to do this i recomend adding low melt solder on the motherboard connections to make the repair easier.


Replaced with U5701 from donor board 820-3332.
After adding solder use your hot air station to desolder the FPC, while the board is still hot use your soldering iron with e bit tip to clean the holes, It will take a bit of heat to clean the holes, if the soldering iron is not enough you can help with your hot air station at the same time.


✅ Result: Keyboard fully functional, Caps Lock LED working properly, no delay, trackpad also fully operational.
After cleaning the holes place the new connector and add fresh solder.


These connectors are easy to find and a lot of devices use the same one.

Problem description

The iPad does not charge, the battery percentage is always at 1% and it may also restart.

Symptoms

Diagnostic Steps

This issue is usually caused by a faulty battery or a conection issue between the motherboard and the battery.

If the iPad is restarting check if the panic logs of the devices has a reference to the TG0B and TG0V sensors if it does the problem is related to the battery or a communication issue between the battery and the motherboard.

Open the device and check if the screw on the battery connector is present and screwed in properly, if this screw is missing it will cause the issues above.

Remove the motherboard out of the housing and inspect the Battery FPC for any physical damage it is common to have this connector damaged if the iPad was open before and something was inserted here to disconnect the battery.

You can also touch the connection with a pair of tweezers to make sure they are solid and not cracked.
