Problem description

Fixing issues related to sleep and waking up on A1707 MacBook Pro

Example image (Figure 1) -- No image yet. Help expand this page by uploading it!

Symptoms

  • not waking up from sleep after closing
  • only starts after unplugging of battery
  • sleep without closing (through OS) is no problem

Solution

  • Problem with one of the Hall Sensors
  • SMC_LID acts normal (3.4V with open Laptop; 0V closed)
  • SMC_LID_LEFT or SMC_LID_RIGHT is not acting
    • SMC needs both signals to go to sleep
    • Display, Keyboard, Powerbutton, Trackpad, ... are in sleep mode and don't wake up
  • Solution: look at R5252, C5250, R5253, C5260, both Hall Sensor Boards (J5250, J5260) and U5255 area for corrosion --> repair
    • if Tracks are missing (like my case) to Pin 1 of R5252 or R5252 a direkt connection to Pin 2 of the Hall sensor chip
