Problem description

No Power, 5v and ~0.02A current draw on the A1708 MacBook diagnosis and repair.

Symptoms

  • Not turning on
  • Charger stuck at 5V with a current draw of 20 milliamps as measured by a USB-C meter

Solution

Remove the shield over U2800 (Figure 1), clean and inspect all components around it, reflow if necessary.
