Hello all, new contributor here. Knowledge level: hobbyist.

I have recently purchased a disassembled Nintendo Switch for 15€. The previous owner stated, that there might be a faulty cap on the board, but he wasnt able to tell me more.

The device was not turning on an first inspection. The shielding on CPU, RAM and WiFi-chip were bend and an exzessive amount of thermal paste was applied on all of those chips underneath. The contacts of the USB-C port were loose. I reconnected them to the PCB.

The Switch was turning on after that but displayed an orange screen of death (futher OSoD). After some research, I decided to test the function of the mainboard by removing the WiFi-chip via hot air.

The error of OSoD still persists. So I assume the error can originate from other causes then the WiFi-chip itself. With possible help from the community I would like to try to expand this article and maybe fix the device at hand in the process. For futher tipps on troubleshooting I would be infinitely greatful.

Thank you all in advance for your time and advice. BR, Thomas
