Problem description
Diagnosing and repairing an iPad Pro 12.9 4th Gen that does not charge.
Symptoms
- iPad pulls zero or very few (0.01 - 0.14) amps from the charger.
- Device may or may not boot.
Solution
- The pins on this iPad's charging port can be damaged very easily. Unplug the charging port flex cable and inspect the gold pins that connect to the USB-C charger. If they are worn out or bent out of shape, replace the flex cable.
- If your charging port is not damaged, check for shorts around the CD3217B12 charging controller. Some capacitors are hidden underneath the logic board's metal shield.
