Common solutions for common problems. Observations.

Device type: Continuous Monitoring [EKG], Make: Philips, Model: MX40

Problem: Device boots up, but does not transmit telemetry to 'central'.

Cause 1: Wet cleaning prior to lead set plug-in mobilizes gold coating during powered state. Corrosion on PIN4.

Solution 1: Using a burnishing tool or similarly hard plastic pick, remove gray-green surface. Remaining usefulness depends on preserving remaining pin height.

Simulate @ 60 BPM and evaluate signal integrity to confirm success.

Cause 2: Wet cleaning prior to lead set plug-in mobilizes gold coating during powered state. Corrosion on PLUG4.

Solution 2: Using a burnishing tool or similarly hard plastic pick, remove gray-green surface. Remaining usefulness depends on preserving remaining plug spring tension.

Material appendices: The rear plastic battery tray cover is comprised of Polysulfone (or PSU).

Exercise left to the reader: How would you design a lead set that has high conductivity, flexibility, and does not corrode in the presence of salts?

Device type: Diagnostic [EKG], Make: Philips, Model: TC50

P1: Device does not boot.

C1: Device side of power cord has backed out.

S1: Secure proximal cable. Simulate flexion. Replace with medical grade (marked with green dot) if back-out reoccurs.
