Diagnostic Steps
A1706 with board number 820-00923 SSD recognition issue
check the chip that creats pp3v3_s4 (U8203). check for the enabled signal which 3.3v, then check for the presence of pp3v3_s5, if present proceed to checking if pp3v3_s4 is pushing out. if its not then that is yoiur problem.
you will notice that U8203 get really hot but that chip isnt the problem.
inject voltage1.5v into that area PP3v3_s4 and use a high therma image sensor to check anything that gets hot.

remove and replace then thank me later. it took me 8days to figure this out.
