Once done it's the reverse of disassembly. I have included a picture below to show you how the switch clip goes in, incase it falls out. It's very simply to put back in but can be confusing without a reference.

Reverse the steps of removing it from the car and now your power mirror switch should work once again saving you the $20 AUD to replace it! :)

Problem description

Switch stops working completely not allowing you to control your power mirrors

VT, VX, VY and VZ Power Mirror Switch from Holden Commodore, Calais, Statesman & Pontiac GTO

Symptoms

  • Clicking the buttons does nothing

Solution

This is a very simple thing to solve, even though these switch's are relatively cheap to replace, often you can repair your own switch in less than 5 minutes with nothing more than a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol. The contacts on the PCB often only need to be cleaned and the switch works once again.

Diagnostic Steps

Click the buttons, if they don't work, 95% of the time this is the issue.

Repair Steps

Remove the switch from the door card, often this can be achieved without removing the door card by using a flat metal prying tool or flat head screwdriver, insert the prying tool or screwdriver in between the switch and the door card and lever the switch out. Disconnect the grey plug (It pulls straight out the bottom)

Disassembly of the switch is very simple, as seen in the picture provided there are 4 clips around the edge using a fine prying tool, slide the tool between the clips and the bottom case, once you do this around all 4 the bottom piece should come out.

from there it's very simple, take the PCB out of the bottom case and clean the PCB with Isopropyl alcohol, due to this switching sitting right below the drivers window grime and rain can easily make it's way into the switch causing the contacts to become dirty.

Once done it's the reverse of disassembly. I have included a picture below to show you how the switch clip goes in, incase it falls out. It's very simple to put back in but can be confusing without a reference.
