The ThinkPad T480 is a laptop released by Lenovo. It has a audio jack, two usb a port, a hdmi port, and two usb-c ports.
An old version of the bios present on some machine like the T480 is known for continously writing to the eeprom that controls the usb-c port. This will slowly damage the port eventually destroying it. The damage can be stopped by updating the bios but can't be reversed. This requires replacing and reprogramming the eeprom. I don't know how to do this, could someone edit this article to make it an actually good article on the T480 and replace the eeprom as I am personally suffering from this.
