Problem Solution

No Power, No draw on DC power Supply, and When you prompt to boot no reaction on DC Power Supply.

Knowing device history: do a quick history on what meant have caused the issue at hand, from their do a quick visual inspection of device. Now if everything checks out lets proceed to checking important rails needed for device to power on. Receiving such a case is something which is not common but over the years of repairs i have seen most of such cases. normally caused by AP PMIC

let's go to steps to follow if no power

  • Check the signal on AP_PS_Hold=1.8V, Note: if this rail is present and voltage matches or within a margin of - or + 10% margin,
Also: check if the battery has sufficient voltage level = 3.5V, anything below 3V, means try another battery or charge is externally and test again. If using dc power supply confirm the FPC has good contact with probes (connector from DC Power supply).
TP_PS_HOLD
  • Power Key: Yes the most innocent victim, This is supposed to have 1.2V before prompt to boot, so while dc power supply or battery is connected this rail will have that voltage with margin error of reading between - or + 10%. When you press power key it shorts to ground and registers low voltage, always diagnose this on such a case. If rail is missing check component next in line on the SW_ON rail.
  • Voltage Rail Missing on Power Key: If this is the case then check out rails from main AP PMIC, will create a dedicated topic on this below (Those in a hurry; check out rails from Main PMIC - Make sure you also check PMIC_PON_RST_N Rail and PON_1
