The AUE for this model is September 2021. After the AUE expires new OS and browser features cannot be downloaded.

  • After the AUE date is reached, existing and future policies may not work as intended, and technical support will not be provided.
  • After the AUE expires, many Chromebooks will not be suitable for education purposes and thus be e-waste after about a year.
    • Around a year after AUE ends, Pearson TestNav, AIRSecureTest, NWEA, PARCC, SmarterBalanced and more mandated US testing apps lose support for certain versions of ChromeOS and won't launch tests.
    • A workaround would be to install USB Chromebook Recovery Tool updates to old AUE devices but this is timely and will still have a limit.
  • One can reuse the 11" LCD screens and properly recycle batteries through non-profit organizations that schedule site pickups.
