Common Problems[edit | edit source]

Problem Solution

Appears dead / No backlight

  • This is a bug in the BIOS pre-213 version where, due to an unknown cause, the screen loses backlight (sets it to 0) and the device appears to be dead, other than the power button LEDs working like they should. To fix, find a way to temporarily light up the screen externally, like shining a bright flashlight into it and update the BIOS to at least version 213.
After the update is done, the backlight should come back after a reboot. If the tablet boots into windows and you have RDP enabled, you could log into it, and attempt to change the screen brightness to give you enough time to enter bios and update it.

Stylus not working, device manager shows yellow exclamation mark on the Wacom digitizer.

  • The ribbon cable that connects the digitizer controller board to the main PCB, may be squished and defective. Try to change its shape until it works or if you are doing it for a customer, consider getting a replacement that actually works.

Touch screen does not work, device manager shows yellow exclamation mark on intel i2c device

  • The ribbon cable that connects the touch screen controller board to the main PCB, may be squished and defective. Try to change its shape until it works or if you are doing it for a customer, consider getting a replacement that actually works.
  • The touch screen may not work when you boot the tablet up while it's physically in a cold environment. To temporarily fix it, disable and enable the device in the device manager. You could also make a batch script that does this and add it to startup. (it goes without saying that this is a workaround / temporary solution, and not an actual fix.)
